Zululand reserve and Maputaland beach in 8 days (7 nights)
A two-base trip entirely inside KwaZulu-Natal, reached by road from Durban rather than by air. Four nights on the Phinda reserve cover cheetah, black rhino and the sand-forest species across morning and late-afternoon drives. The move to the coast is a road transfer into the iSimangaliso wetlands, where three nights on the Maputaland shore leave room for snorkelling, diving and, through the southern summer, turtles coming ashore after dark. Two stops, two unpacks, and game viewing before the water rather than after it.
The route, stop by stop
1. Phinda, South Africa · 4 nights
The reserve mixes sand forest, wetland and open grass in one drive, and four nights gives the guides time to work rhino tracking and cheetah separately rather than chasing everything at once.

2. Kwazulu Natal, South Africa · 3 nights
The Maputaland shore inside iSimangaliso is reef diving and empty beach rather than a resort strip, and three nights is enough to dive, snorkel and still do nothing for a day.
