Victoria Falls, Hwange and Lake Kariba in 8 days (7 nights)
A mostly road-based week across the west and centre of the country, with no flying between stops. Two nights at Victoria Falls handle the falls themselves and a river cruise. A four-hour drive then reaches Hwange for two nights of game drives across the pans and open plains where elephant concentrate. A longer road leg crosses to Lake Kariba for three nights, where the activity shifts to game viewing from a boat, a shoreline walk with a ranger and time among the islands. The pace loosens as the week goes on, ending with days that ask very little.
The route, stop by stop
1. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe · 2 nights
The falls and a sunset cruise fill the arrival day, and the second day stays open for rafting, a flight over the gorge or a village visit depending on the season.

2. Hwange, Zimbabwe · 2 nights
Two nights covers an afternoon drive on arrival and a full day across the plains and seasonal pans, where the larger elephant and buffalo herds gather in the dry months.

3. Kariba, Zimbabwe · 3 nights
Three nights pays back the long transfer and changes the kind of safari entirely: game seen from a boat at the water's edge, a morning walk, and a day that can simply be spent on a deck.
