Namibia self-drive loop in 11 days (10 nights)
The standard Namibian circuit driven clockwise in a hired vehicle, with one settling night in Windhoek before heading south-west. Two nights at the dunes allow a single pre-dawn start into Sossusvlei; two on the coast at Swakopmund break the driving with seal colonies and dune activities. The route then turns inland for two nights in Damaraland, for the Twyfelfontein engravings and a guided look for riverbed elephant, and finishes with three nights at Etosha, long enough to sit out a full morning at one waterhole. Most legs are gravel, so the driving days run longer than the distances suggest.
The route, stop by stop
1. Windhoek, Namibia · 1 night
One night absorbs the flight, the vehicle handover and the food shop before the first long driving day, without spending holiday time in the capital.

2. Sossusvlei, Namibia · 2 nights
Two nights means one early gate opening for the dunes and Deadvlei in low light, with the second day free instead of packing up straight after the climb.

3. Swakopmund, Namibia · 2 nights
Swakopmund has the shops, fuel and restaurants the rest of the loop lacks, so it doubles as a restock stop and a two-night break from gravel.

4. Damaraland, Namibia · 2 nights
One night here buys a rushed arrival and one activity; the second morning is what makes the rock art and a guided elephant drive both possible.

5. Etosha, Namibia · 3 nights
Three nights lets you drive the pan's waterholes at your own speed and still spend one whole morning parked at a single one, which is how the park rewards self-drivers.
