## Short answer

Decide the route and how many nights each stop deserves before you look at places to stay. Then fill each stop, keeping the travel between them realistic, and keep every booking on one timeline. Airflow Stay publishes trip ideas that do the first part for you: a route with the nights at each stop, how you get between them and where to stay. Airflow Guest is a free planner where you lay out your own dates, add bookings you already have and ask hosts about availability.

## Why multi-stop trips go wrong

Booking sites answer one question: where can I stay in this town on these nights. A trip with four stops asks a different one: how do the stops fit together. Most planning mistakes come from that gap, such as one night where three were needed, a five-hour drive on the day of a morning activity, or a stay booked for the wrong dates because an earlier stop moved.

The fix is to treat the route as the plan and the stays as parts of it. Once the nights and the travel between stops are settled, choosing each place gets much easier.

## Starting from a trip idea

A trip idea on Airflow Stay is a route someone has worked out: the stops in order, the number of nights at each, the distance and the way of getting between them, a map and a write-up of what each leg is like. Some are checked by tour operators who work in that region.

You can read one as it is, or take it into Airflow Guest and change it: add a night, drop a stop, move the dates. The places along each route are being invited now and will open for booking when Stay launches.

## A method that works

1. **Fix the fixed points**: Arrival and departure, and anything with a set date such as a permit, a wedding or a ferry. Everything else moves around these.
2. **Choose the stops and the nights**: Fewer stops and more nights nearly always makes a better trip. Allow two nights as a minimum anywhere you want to see properly.
3. **Check the travel between stops**: Look up the real journey time, not the distance. Treat any day with more than half a day of travel as a travel day.
4. **Fill each stop, then put it on one timeline**: Choose a place for each stop and ask about your dates. Keep every confirmed booking in one place so a change to one stop shows its effect on the next.

## What to check before you book the first stay

- Each stay's check-out day is the next stay's check-in day, with no gap and no overlap.
- The longest travel day is one you would actually want to do.
- Places with limited availability, such as small lodges and permit-based activities, are booked first.
- You know each place's cancellation terms, since a change to one stop can move the others.

## What Airflow does not do

- Airflow Stay has not launched to travellers yet; the places along each trip idea open for booking at launch.
- Airflow Guest does not book flights. It can show a suggested flight as a card that opens a pre-filled search.
- There is not yet one checkout for a whole trip. Each stay is confirmed and paid with its own host.
